Beautiful place. We were there on January 18th. Snowman Day was being celebrated and there was a lot on offer for children. The entrance fee of one euro was absolutely fine.

In 1785, the two main buildings were connected by the Röhrwasserhaus. This gave Osterburg essentially its current appearance. From 1813 to 1815, the castle housed a military hospital, and from 1818 it was the seat of the district court. Towards the end of the Second World War, the keep was damaged by shelling from US troops. The keep is the third highest in Germany.

Its three battlements and octagonal structure make the defensive tower an architectural speciality. It is visible from afar as a landmark high above the city.
