Sigmundskron Castle is located south of Bolzano, above the Adige River. The castle has changed hands and names several times over the centuries. Before Sigmundskron, the castle was called Firmian. The current owner, Reinhold Messner, also calls the castle ruins that, more precisely MMM Firmian (Messner Mountain Museum). The MMM is a project with six locations in Tyrol.

A very nice Malga (a mountain inn) with three rooms and 14 beds. Bookings can be made in advance. The Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) is highly recommended.

The wine village is known for its Gewürztraminer wines and the traditional Egetmann parade, which takes place on Shrove Tuesday in odd-numbered years. Located on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, Tramin is a popular holiday resort, traditionally especially for guests from German-speaking countries, thanks to its historic village center, its wine production, its proximity to Lake Kaltern, and its weekly wine festivals in summer and autumn.

Fabulous views, far from any hustle and bustle. Up here, Mab experiences pure relaxation and is constantly given insights into village life and the demanding work amidst the Mediterranean world. Time seems to have stood still at times.

Lake Kaltern (Italian: Lago di Caldaro) is a lake at the junction of the Überetsch and the Unterland in South Tyrol (Italy). Lake Kaltern is one of the largest lakes in South Tyrol (although it is rather poor in terms of lakes) and is considered – along with Lake Klopein – the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. The water temperature reaches up to 28°C in summer, and the bathing season runs from May to September. The eastern and western shores are mainly developed for tourism; the southern shore is reedy. In addition to swimming, other popular sports include rowing and pedal boating, sailing, and windsurfing. The latter benefit from the prevailing mountain and valley wind circulation and the afternoon ora wind. Motorboats are not permitted.
