Passo della Collina, also known as Passo della Porretta, is an Apennine pass of notable historical importance. It is located at an altitude of 932 meters above sea level, straddling the valleys of the Limentra di Sambuca, a tributary of the River Reno, and the basin of the Ombrone Pistoiese, a tributary of the River Arno. It is said that during the Second Punic War Hannibal also passed through here, together with his famous elephants, before the Battle of Trasimeno, in 217 BC.

This is a nice place to stop and admire the view. The mountains are pleasant when they are green in the summer, but also covered in snow in the winter.

Between Bologna and Pistoia, inside the Parco dei Laghi, is Lake Suviana, one of the most popular tourist destinations for the Bolognese. Immersed in oak and beech woods, it is a basin of artificial origin formed after the construction of the dam between 1928 and 1932.

to have the most effective views it is recommended to do this tour going up from Lagaro and first passing by lake Brasimone, the slopes are very similar but the first climbs will be sunny so it is better to do them early in the morning; in this way, however, the panoramic views of the lakes will be of great effect. Downhill from the lakes, then, the appearance of the splendid Rocchetta Mattei will take your breath away 👍🏼
