A superb road clinging to the hillside between rocks and vineyards, offering sweeping views across the plain. The surface has been almost entirely redone... it's like a billiard table!

Red soil can be found not only in Roussillon, but also around the Montagne Sainte-Victoire.

The dam of Lake Zola can be reached via beautiful trails. It was built between 1847 and 1854 and is one of the first arch dams in the world; according to Wikipedia, it may even be the very first. The lake served to supply Aix-en-Provence with drinking water, which was piped there via an aqueduct. A beautiful destination directly from Aix, or from Le Tholonet.

Before this marker, it's not a single track but rather a natural descent into the torrent bed. The descent is smooth, but once you're in the torrent bed, it's very narrow and rough, making it impossible to pick up speed. However, don't turn around because after this marker, it gets cool, even really cool! (Review left in July 2025 and ridden on a hardtail, FYI)
