Nymindegab is a small, charming town at the southern end of Ringkøbing Fjord, once a fishing village and now a peaceful holiday destination. It’s known for its sweeping views of dunes and fjord, cozy cafés and easy access to the nearby Tipperne bird sanctuary and wide, uncrowded beaches.

A very beautiful area, definitely worth a visit, but the hike described here isn't suitable for this time of year. The detour from the main trail via a footpath to the north is just about manageable in normal hiking boots, but it's covered in mud - a swamp-like condition. However, we had to abandon the actual southern main section of the hike through the nature reserve. Fishing trousers or similar would have been necessary for that. After about 300 meters, the path was blocked by knee-deep, unavoidable floodwaters. Probably a very nice route in summer!

In picturesque surroundings near Skjern Enge, you'll find Denmark's longest wooden suspension bridge, King Hans Bridge. The bridge was built in 2003 as part of the restoration of the Skjern Å River. The mighty pylons are made of "naval oak," which was planted in 1807 after the loss of the Danish Navy to the English. The bridge is named after King Hans, who tragically died of pneumonia at this spot after falling into the water. His memorial stone stands next to the bridge. Source: visitvesterhavet.de
