History and Use: The bridge has undergone several renovations to ensure safety and load-bearing capacity. It provides commuters with a convenient route through Holxen and offers nature lovers recreational spaces along the Hardau. Surroundings: The bridge site is characterized by tranquil nature, riparian woodland, and the constant rushing of the river. The bridge contributes to the regional identity and occasionally serves as a photo opportunity.

The heath is always worth a visit – not just during the heather bloom in August, when the landscape transforms into a glorious purple. The nature park stretches over 480 square kilometers between the heathland villages of Eschede, Hermannsburg, Müden, Unterlüß, and Winsen (Aller). The Southern Heath Nature Park offers protection to animals sensitive to disturbance, such as the crane and the black stork. Herds of Heidschnucke sheep (Heidschnucke sheep) take care of the landscape – they regularly nibble on the heather. Numerous hiking and cycling trails lead through the hilly heathland, which dates back to the Ice Age.
