Beautiful wooden bridge over the Ilmenau River. Whether there was once a vineyard here or if it's just a name is unknown. I couldn't find anything online.

I was lucky enough to spend the night here alone with my own time at the end of August. The restrooms worked perfectly and were clean. The proximity to the road and railway tracks didn't bother me. Tip: If you drag yourself out of the tent early in the morning, you can not only enjoy the Ilmenau River, but also a beautiful sunrise ☀️ (assuming the skies cooperate).

Here you can admire the local birdlife. With luck, kingfishers might fly by.

This is a great place to start swimming in the Ilmenau River. And with luck, a canoe with chilled drinks will pass by.

The mill pond is highly valued by the Bienbüttlers as an oasis of well-being.

The church, dedicated to Saint George, the fighter against all evil, was probably built soon after. Its north wall still shows what it might have originally looked like: beautiful fieldstone masonry with small arched windows.

Many butterflies including the rapeseed white and the northern redstart.

In the forests you can hear the cuckoo and the cranes that are native here!
