The permanent exhibition and changing smaller exhibition formats provide insights into the diversity of the collections of the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle from the Middle Ages to the present day. The focus of the permanent exhibition is classical modern art with the permanent loan from the Hermann Gerlinger collection and the presentation of paintings and sculptures from the museum holdings as well as the work of Lyonel Feininger in the gallery dedicated to him in the west wing of the Moritzburg. Visitors can experience the arts and crafts of the 19th century in a presentation in a specially prepared ensemble of four rooms on the ground floor of the Talamt. In the permanent exhibition area Modern Two in the so-called Westbox on the second floor of the west wing, a new thematic collection presentation will be shown on the occasion of 100 years of Leuna-Werke. Just in time for the 110th birthday of Halle painter and graphic artist Albert Ebert on April 26, 2016, the Albert Ebert Cabinet with numerous paintings by the artist was reopened in a newly designed presentation in the Moritzburg in Halle. Four-wing late Gothic complex, built 1484-1503, ruined since 1637, new museum building in 1901-1904. In terms of architectural history, the Moritzburg, consecrated to the patron saint of the archdiocese, stands between Gothic and Renaissance; it is no longer a castle in the traditional sense and is not yet a palace.
