What does the Caribbean island state of St. Kitts and Nevis have to do with Naumburg Cathedral? Museum & Exhibitions High above the wine-growing town of Freyburg lies Neuenburg, the sister castle of Wartburg, founded around 1090 by the Thuringian Count Ludwig the Springer. The first mighty complex was built by 1150. The rise of the Landgraves of Thuringia was accompanied by further magnificent expansion. An absolute must in Naumburg is of course the Naumburg Cathedral World Heritage Site. I don't usually care much about churches, but I have to admit that the cathedral made a deep impression on me. The experience of standing in the sun in complete silence in the inner courtyard and looking up at the 4 towers was particularly impressive..gigantic 🤩.
