The ruins lie above the Barbarossa Cave. All that remains of the castle are a single, large wall fragment of the residential tower and the remains of a cistern. The access is signposted and leads via a trail.

If you love rustic forests, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, you can't see the castle anymore, but it is still nice to hike in the nature reserve!

In 2004, an extensive renovation of the entire palace complex began under the direction of the Thuringian State Office for Monument Protection and Archaeology. In 2013, the Old Palace was converted into a museum and in 2014 the New Palace was handed over to the tenants. Source: Wikipedia

According to legend, the Grasburg in the forest area known as Old Stolberg between Stempeda and Rottleberode in the southern Harz Mountains is the ancestral castle of the Counts of Stolberg.

Great vantage point, all that remains of the castle is a three by 2 meter piece of wall.

Najaaaaaaaaaaa you only see a piece of wall. The view is great. But the way up there is not easy. I had to use trekking poles to get down.
