Bodenstein Castle, located above Wintzingerode, has a history dating back around 1,000 years. Well-preserved and restored, it is one of the jewels of the Eichsfeld region. The forest surrounding the castle offers picturesque hiking trails.

At the former inner-German border crossing at Duderstadt-Worbis, the Grenzlandmuseum Eichsfeld provides information about the history of the division of Germany and Europe from 1945 to 1990. The Grenzlandmuseum is a modern place of learning and invites you in a variety of ways to deal with recent history and to actively explore it in the exhibitions, on the Grenzlandweg with original GDR border facilities and in the educational institution.
