The Lords of Bothmer originally owned a watermill on the right bank of the Leine. Because it obstructed shipping on the Leine, it was demolished in 1822 on the condition that a Dutch windmill be built on the same site. This mill was intended to have two grinding mills, one for barley and one for oil. The mill burned down in 1930 and was rebuilt in 1932. It was severely damaged during World War II. Very worth seeing mill

A small section of my tour led directly along the Leine.

Unfortunately, you can't get directly to the water because it's fenced off for agricultural use. But you still get a nice view of the line.

This is a lovely place to look over the Leine. The path is very pleasant for cycling. Unfortunately, I couldn't get directly to the water because the bank was completely fenced off.

At this point, where the path is paved with natural stones, the line was spanned by a red brick bridge for the railway. At that time, the route led in the direction of Rethem. On the other side, if you drive from the Hademstorf lock to Bothmer, you can still see the old route. It is a pity that this path was not developed as a cycle path.

This postmill, which is over 400 years old, is located in a very beautiful place on the Allerufer in Londy Park. It was still used until 1948, when it slowly fell into disrepair. It stood in the neighboring town of Frankenfeld and was placed under monument protection. The district bought it and donated it to the city of Rethem. In 1955 it was dismantled and rebuilt in Londy Park. With a bakery and a barn it has become a beautiful group. You can sit beautifully and find out more about the mill.
