🌲💧 Wuppertal Dam – Pure nature and tranquil water worlds Here at the Wuppertal Dam, the world feels so much quieter. The large reservoir, surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills, is a true haven of peace – perfect for anyone looking to escape everyday life. The water glistens in the sun, small waves gently lap against the shore, and the fresh, clear air fills your lungs. The circular trail around the dam is not only a sporting challenge with its gentle climbs, but also a journey through various natural landscapes: sometimes mossy forests, sometimes open glades, always accompanied by the soothing rippling of the water. Along the way, you'll also discover information panels that provide fascinating details about the history and function of the Wuppertal Dam – built in the 1920s to supply Wuppertal with drinking water and now a nature reserve. Time and again, the view opens up to the water, which here seems a bit like a silent mirror. Birds circle the water, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot otters or kingfishers. Ideal for a relaxing bike ride or walk, where your mind and body can recharge simultaneously. 🚴‍♂️🌿 My tip: Pack a picnic and find one of the idyllic spots along the shore – a moment to breathe and simply be.

A fantastic view of the rocky promontory "Am Bielstein" on the Dörpe tributary of the Wuppertal Dam. When the dam is at full capacity, the promontory resembles an island, with only the trees rising above the water. A stunning, but also partly hilly, section of the Wuppertal Dam.
