The Großer Varchentiner See is located north of the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and belongs entirely to the municipality of Groß Plasten. Cyclists are not welcome here. Although the cycle path runs along the edge of the site, there is a locked gate and an additional barrier.
