Certainly one of the most photographed motifs in Ravensburg. The 36-meter-high Lower Gate, built in 1363, marks the western part of the old town.

Beautiful area. However, it's only recommended for bikes with wider tires.

In the 14th century, the city expanded. The city walls were extended, and an area that had previously been on the outskirts of the old town suddenly became the center. A few older town houses were demolished, and in 1386, the new town hall, which had previously been located in the upper town, was built in their place. It is a late Gothic building, characterized by the rows of windows on the first floor: narrow, tall, rectangular windows arranged in close rows, topped with trefoil frames. The ground floor was formerly a hall open to the outside through arcades, where the city court and the imperial district court held public meetings.
