Gieboldehausen Castle emerged from a former burgher seat of Gieboldehausen Castle, called "Haus auf dem Wall". The adjacent park with a small pond and rare trees 🌳🌴 - black pines, false cypresses and ginkgo trees - now serves as a place for recreation and leisure. A playground has been set up for children.

A very nice place to rest, have a picnic or just relax. The castle ruins can be reached via a path that is partly steep and the foliage coloring now at this time of year is indescribably beautiful

Stamp hunters need not be disappointed, however, if you follow the path to the ruins of Lichtenstein Castle described on the information sign, you will come across stamp location no. 4 of the (new) Karst hiking booklet Südharz.

The castle seat of the Barons of Minnigerode, now known as the castle, used to be called "Haus auf dem Wall". From the beginning of the 16th century until 1976, the castle was owned by the family. Today it belongs to the Gieboldehausen district and - after renovations from 1987 to 1991 - is used as a registry office and for cultural purposes.
