Without an entrance fee, you can peacefully climb the wide tower stairs to the viewing platform. Inside the tower, you'll find various exhibits and information. There are several levels leading to the very top. A massive wall, large wooden stairs, and a very wide viewing platform offer excellent views in almost every direction. It's a rewarding experience after cycling up the steep hill.

One of the hiking highlights around Göttingen. From the castle wall you can enjoy the view of the valley and fortify yourself with delicious food in the restaurant (currently only open on weekends). A place that Goethe already visited.

If you have already reached the top, you should definitely visit BOTH summits. On the "Alte Gleichen" you can see a little more of the former castle. For this you have benches and a shelter to rest on the "Neue Gleichen". From both peaks there are vantage points down to the valley.

After a steep ascent, you can enjoy the wonderful view here. There are both benches and a shelter to rest. TIP: Leave the bike at the bottom and hike up to the same two on foot. Since the ascent to the "Neue Gleichen" is very steep and to the "Alte Gleichen" it is often very overgrown, at least in summer, so that it is not fun to push the bike there.
