The many symbols attached here distinguish this small sacred monument as something truly special and are sure to arouse curiosity in many, prompting them to linger for a moment. What is striking is the – to us, unusual – rich detail with which the cross's longitudinal and transverse beams have been adorned. People from past generations were able to decipher such imagery better than we are today. The numerous symbols of the Passion of Jesus visible here are intended to remind the viewer of the suffering and pain of the Son of God, which he endured out of love for humanity.

The mosaics on the walls are worth seeing

Keep an eye out for the former Höpfingen forest swimming pool, now hidden in the forest. Dating back to earlier times, it has long since been overgrown, but the remains of the pool speak of another era. An interesting, almost forgotten place that offers hikers something historical to marvel at.

A very impressive building. The Catholic Church of St. Alban is located very close to the Schlossplatz. With the words: "We are building the Erftal Cathedral," Pastor Stephan was able to motivate the locals to build the church in 1891. Men, women, and young people gathered at the construction site every day to volunteer for forced labor.
