Here you have a quick cycle connection over the Oder-Spree Canal, which takes you seamlessly from the Friedrich-Wilhelm Canal to the picturesque Schlaubetal. The paved route, which has existed since the bridge was built in 2000, offers you a smooth and pleasant ride. As you cycle across the modern bridge, you can almost hear the gentle rippling of the water and the calls of the ferrymen of yesteryear. Only about 50 meters west of your current location, a ferry used to transport people and goods across the canal.

The Friedrich Wilhelm Canal, previously the Müllroser Canal, was the first artificial waterway that connected the Oder with the Spree. The canal, completed in 1668, ran from Brieskow an der Oder to Neuhaus an der Spree with a length of around 27 kilometers.
