The earliest mention of a castle dates back to the 12th century. The buildings of the present castle were erected after the Thirty Years' War and later.

The castle is home to the Hall Art Foundation, a great stop for art lovers. Changing contemporary art exhibitions await you within the castle walls, and a sculpture park is spread throughout the grounds. The Lutter side requires full concentration, especially on the descent. The asphalt, coupled with two or three turns, is quite challenging at times. If the wind is right, it can get really fast. The climb is very easy to ride from both directions.

Salzgitter [zalt͡sˈɡɪtɐ] is a large city in the northern Harz foothills, in the southeast of the state of Lower Saxony. The independent city is the headquarters of Salzgitter AG and, together with the cities of Braunschweig and Wolfsburg, forms a regiopol region and one of the nine major centers in the state. It is part of the Hanover-Brunswick-Göttingen-Wolfsburg metropolitan region. Salzgitter has existed in its current form since 1942 and was one of the few new cities founded in Germany in the first half of the 20th century.
