Agia Galini lies in southern Crete on the Libyan Sea. Nearby villages include Melambes, Kria Vrisi, and Agios Pavlos. Together with the village of Xirokambos, the port town forms a local community within the municipality of Agios Vasilios. East of Agia Galini, the Platis River flows into the Libyan Sea. Off the coast lie the two uninhabited Paximadia Islands (also known as the Zwieback Islands).

The fountain itself is very beautiful and offers the best spring water, which you can even fill directly into bottles. Legend has it that if you drink water from all the snapdragons in one day, you'll live to be over 100 years old. 😉😎 There are also many taverns and souvenir shops near the fountain, and accordingly, many tourists. So it's always very busy. If you want to enjoy it in peace, you should go there early in the morning or in the evening. 😉

A beautiful, not-too-steep climb from Lake Portamoi to Agia Fotani. The route offers plenty of shady sections and, above all, is traffic-free.
