A great view from the tower. Next door is a small but fine restaurant on weekends.

Up to one of the youngest observation towers in Upper Lusatia. At 307 m, the Hohe Dubrau is the highest elevation in the Upper Lusatian heath and pond landscape. The cozy Lausitzblick building (now closed) and a 25 m high observation tower were built on the neighboring Monumentberg in 2001. The building is scheduled to open again this year - let's be surprised.

Great viewpoint run by a club. To the west of Quitzendorfer See you can see as far as Bautzen Cathedral.

Is one of the most famous sun shrines in Lusatia. When the sun shines through the opening at a certain angle, a calendrical determination can be made. A replica with an explanation is located at the observatory in Sohland on the Spree.

Great rock on the side of the path, the mining version of the Totenstein or the rock on the Hochstein.

The Hochstein is a mountain in the Königshainer Mountains in eastern Upper Lusatia west of the town of Görlitz in the Görlitz district. It is located northwest of the municipality of Königshain. The Hochstein is 397.2 meters high and is therefore the second highest elevation in the Königshain Mountains after the 415 meter high Ahlberg in the Kampfberge. In the summit area there is a mountain inn, a lookout tower and some free-standing rock towers made of Upper Carboniferous Königshain granite that have been spared from quarry operations and which show clear wool sack weathering here. The observation tower is a 22 meter high steel structure with a round viewing platform. The Hochstein can be reached via a road closed to public transport and several hiking trails. The European long-distance hiking trail E10 runs over the Hochstein in the Niesky–Löbau section and the Way of St. James in the Görlitz–Weißenberg–Bautzen section. Source: Wikipedia

The Kuckuckstein is a rock in the Königshain Mountains near Görlitz. It is located about 300 m north of the Hochstein at an altitude of 340 m above sea level. NN. The shape is very similar to a bird's head, preferably an eagle is recognized in it. The eye forms an artificial viewing hole. During the winter solstice, the midday sun appears in the eye for several days. Already in 1828 Karl Benjamin Preusker suspected a “pagan sacrificial altar” for a “sun cult” for the neighboring Totenstein in his work Upper Lusatian Antiquities. In 1937, the head of the Leipzig University Observatory interpreted recesses on the Totenstein as depictions of the constellations. A copper engraving from 1790 in the work Observations over the Mountains near Königshayn in Oberlausiz by Carl Adolph Gottlob von Schachmann shows the cuckoo stone already in its present form. Numerous archaeological finds, which prove the human presence in the Königshain Mountains up to the Stone Age, support the assumption of a former cult site. The alignment of the cuckoo stone to the midday sun was discovered in 2007 by Hilmar Hensel and Ralf Herold. [1] In 2008 the public and school observatory "Bruno-H.-Bürgel" in Sohland / Spree founded the archaeoastronomy group to research this and other calendar solar observation phenomena on other rocks in Upper Lusatia. The archaeoastronomical research project was named "Project of the Gods" and the rock objects that show the calendar-based solar observation phenomenon are referred to as the "Sun Sanctuaries of Upper Lusatia". [2] In 2013, the writer Sylke Hörhold described a crime scene in her detective novel "Hexenbrennen" by making comparisons with the cuckoo stone in Königshain and its solar phenomenon. In 1801, a monument was erected on the summit in memory of Johann Carl Adolf von Nostitz (1743–1800), first lieutenant in the Saxon army from 1774, captain from 1786 and major from 1793. Therefore the mountain was initially called Nostitzhöhe. After the memory of von Nostitz receded, the name Monumentberg became common, which the height bears today. As station No. 2 Nostitzhöhe, Monumentberg was a first-order station in the Royal Saxon triangulation in the 1860s. For this reason, a survey column had been erected on the summit. In 1994 the Nostitz monument was restored by the community and in 2000-2001 a 25 meter high observation tower and a restaurant were built on the summit. Source: Wikipedia

According to legend, one of the devils lived in our area. On the mountain »Hohe Dubrau«, near my village Ober-Prauske, he sat on top of the rock and overlooked the beautiful area. After all, our village is in the beautiful Upper Lusatia and he didn't want to more back to hell. He'd rather be joking around the area. So the devil settled on this rock. On a night outing he tore his pants and had to mend them on the Devil's Stone. So he sat down on the rock and worked with his hellishly hot sewing kit. When he put down the scissors, needle and thimble, the things that can still be seen today were burned into the rock.

The cuckoo stone is a small but fine pile of stones right on the way. You have to have a bit of imagination to recognize a cuckoo, but a little mouse hid in the rock and was photographed.
