A beautiful view from the local mountain of Görlitz

Due to the lack of 'real' paths, the ascent requires some caution in wet weather. Coming from Jauernick, you pass a really worthwhile information board about the "Historic Gardmessungssäule" on the Schwarzer Berg.

Great view of the Lusatian and Jizera Mountains

The Großer Berg, together with the Spitze Berg, forms a connected basalt ceiling remnant. On the southern slope there is an approximately 400 square meter block heap made of basalt blocks, which is called the Stone Sea. It is assumed that these are remnants of weathering from the Weichselian glaciation in the Pleistocene. Furthermore, the back and southern slope of the mountain are covered by a thick layer of loess. Insane view

Apart from the survey column, we hardly find anything on the top of the Black Mountain, maybe also some peace. There is also no view, simply because the trees have grown too high. Especially the last ascent from the west has it all.

Very nice area with basalt blocks, which are partly covered by lichen and moss and spread a touch of Scandinavia. Great view of the surrounding cone mountains.
