Föhren Castle dates back to the 14th century and was last rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1663. The castle complex includes the tithe barn that has been converted and restored into an event space, the actual main building, in whose large hall the registry office is located, and the outbuilding that has been converted into a holiday apartment. Sommerau Castle was built on a 45 m long rock spur around which the Ruwer rivers flow on three sides. The remains of the former palace at a height of up to 10 m have been preserved in the west, while the four-storey four-story keep is still 16 m high in the east.
