One of the climbing destinations around Annweiler. I was up there once. The normal route in three pitches was a little adventure. Right next to it is the climbing hut with a nice refreshment stop.

A rock that can be seen from afar and has long been known as a climbing paradise.

Also good for non-far hikers, as you can get there very close by car. Directly above the climbing hut. Those who like it further can of course still go up the Rehbergturm and the Trifels. A wonderful way.

From the eastern end of the Asselstein you have a great view of Trifels Castle.

A great tower with a breathtaking view of Trifels, Anebos and Münz. Around a couple of benches to have a snack.

The teacher Josef Knieriemen, based in Dörrenbach, had made a name for the construction of this first Stäffelsberg tower. The Dörrenbach residents were of course not satisfied with the loss of their tower: near the old site, the Dörrenbacher Heimatbund built a new, 21 m high round concrete tower in 1964. Almost half a century later, it was thoroughly renovated and embellished inside and out. The population celebrated the reopening of the tower in a big, happy ceremony on May 1, 2012, exactly 125 years after the first foundation stone was laid.
