The climb to the Rehberg Tower is worthwhile. The 14 m high octagonal tower was built in 1862 from the region's colored sandstone. It stands on the 567.8 m above sea level. The 14 m high octagonal Rehbergturm on the eponymous Rehberg (576.8 m above sea level NHN) in the Palatinate Forest, is built of carved sandstones and is a listed building. The tower was inaugurated after five months of construction on 17 September 1862. Since the term "forester" used to refer to a forestry man in general, it is likely that the initiator of the tower was the Darmstadt entrepreneur and politician Christian Zöppritz. This had leased as a wealthy member of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in the Annweiler Forest a hunting ground. The relationships are likely to go back to the fact that the former rural county Hesse-Darmstadt had larger possessions in the Wasgau until the end of the 18th century. In honor of the sponsor, a stone commemorative plaque was placed over the door opening of the tower, in which the following text is engraved:
