The Worm Gate was built from 1770 to 1772. "Under Elector Carl Theodor, Frankenthal experienced a period of prosperity that lasted until the French Revolution. The Elector renewed the city fortifications by expanding the circular wall and erecting new, magnificent gates resembling triumphal arches. [...] The northern gable displays Carl Theodor's coat of arms. On the south side [toward the pedestrian zone], allegorical depictions of War and Peace can be seen. Beautiful square, which of course is also due to the surrounding buildings worth seeing and the nice sculptures in the square.

Former town hall of Leistadt built in 1750

The builder was Elector Carl Theodor, and it was built between 1770 and 1772. As can be seen above, permanent illumination was installed in 2007. Directly behind it is the "Casa Delicious", which can be highly recommended (Mediterranean restaurant with a great breakfast menu).
