Beautiful historic town center, worth a detour.

It's worth a stop! Information boards on both sides of the bridge tell the rich history of both towns. A detour to the historic town center is definitely worthwhile. I especially recommend a visit to the small castle and a climb to the tower (€1). From there, you'll enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding area and the bridge.

The Werra Bridge Vacha, also known as the Bridge of Unity since 1990, is a 225-meter-long stone arch bridge from the Middle Ages that connects Vacha in Thuringia with Philippsthal in Hesse, spanning the Werra River. During the division of Germany, the bridge lay directly on the inner-German border, making it a symbol of German reunification after 1990.

The Haag hydroelectric power plant, as it exists today, is the site of the former mill, founded in 1612 by Landgrave Moritz I, which burned to the ground on October 12, 1923. The power plant has been family-owned since 1939.

The Hoßfeld House, with its residential building and printing shop, was built in 1890 directly on the Thuringian border.

Built in 1612 under Landgrave Moritz I and burned down in October 1923, the former Herrenmühle (a mill for men) is now a hydroelectric power plant and is family-owned. The lock and weir also date back to the time when the Fulda River was developed into a shipping route between Kassel and Bad Hersfeld under Moritz I. Unfortunately, the lock is no longer operational, unlike the ones further downstream.
