🎶 Tithe Barn & Musicians' Land Museum – A Sound of History The unique Palatinate Musicians' Land Museum is located in the historic tithe barn of Lichtenberg Castle. It impressively tells the story of the itinerant musicians who once traveled from here to all over the world. Tip: The exhibition combines a sense of home with a musical journey around the world – absolutely worth seeing!

📍 Dream Loop Bärenbach Trail Remains of ruins, moss-covered stones, and a place that whispers stories – the so-called "Old Castle" is no longer a classic castle, but a place with soul. The remains of the walls seem like they come from another era, surrounded by dense forest and mysterious silence. A place for explorers and dreamers. 💡 Tip: It's a good moment to pause for a moment and imagine what it used to be like here. If you sharpen your eyes, you'll still recognize clear structures – and perhaps even a hint of history in the breeze.

📍 Near Lichtenberg Castle This is where the trail begins: an inconspicuous path, a small sign – and suddenly you're in the middle of a piece of East German history. The Preußensteig starts quietly but steeped in history. The first border markers aren't long in coming, the landscape opens up, and the feeling of "being on the move" quickly sets in. 💡 Tip: Be sure to take a moment at the start to get in the mood – the trail is long, but very rewarding. If you're planning the tour in stages, you can also start here and rejoin later.

The tithe barn, built around 1738, was used to store the farmers' contributions in kind, which were to be paid as taxes or "Zent" (the tenth part). The size of the building shows the large amounts of taxes that the farmers had to pay. A major fire in 1799 completely destroyed this building. It was rebuilt as a museum between 1979 and 1982. The much-visited Musikantenlandmuseum has found its home here.
