Basically you should wear sturdy shoes. The path is not suitable for prams or people with walking disabilities. The view from the viewing platform, however, compensates for any effort of the ascent. Very beautiful rock. At the top you can see the ruins of Rheingrafenstein Castle. The hand ferry takes you to the other side of the Huttental, where some hiking trails start in the Kreuznach forest.
