The castle is already pretty run down. Not really worth it unless you want to enjoy morbid charm.

In addition to the ruins, there is also a castle. Unfortunately, it's pretty much in decline, but at least you can see how big the castle used to be. Some of the rooms are still used today.

The ascent to the Rheingrafenstein is worthwhile. The quickest way is to take the ferry across the Nahe. However, it is not always in operation.

The ruins of Affenstein Castle, which was probably an outer bailey of Rheingrafenstein Castle, can also be seen clearly from here. The ruins of Affenstein Castle are located in the southwestern steep slope of Rheingrafenstein, just below the ruins of Rheingrafenstein Castle. In 1426 it was mentioned in documents as "Affensteine unter Ringravensteine"

The ascent pulls a bit in the calves, but it's definitely worth it. Beautiful castle ruins to discover, especially in the evening in the light of the setting sun. There is a viewing platform and even a long table with benches for a rest.
