The Todtnau Waterfall, also known as the Todtnauberg Waterfall or Hangloch Waterfall, is located between Todtnauberg and Aftersteg, two towns that belong to Todtnau. At this waterfall, the water falls over five stages, partly freely, partly sliding, a total of 97 meters into the depths. The Hangloch Waterfall is therefore one of Germany's highest waterfalls. Todtnau Waterfall In the middle of the Todtnau mountains in the Black Forest, between the holiday resorts of Todtnauberg and Aftersteg, the Todtnau Waterfall, Baden-Württemberg's highest natural waterfall with a drop of 97m, plunges breathtakingly into the depths. The source of the Stübenbach is on the 1,386-meter-high Stübenwasen. From there it meanders through the high valley of Todtnauberg, where other clear mountain streams join it. These then plunge together with a loud roar in two stages over a huge granite massif into the valley. The area around the waterfall was an important silver ore mining area until the 18th century. About 300m east of the upper waterfall, the legendary "Schatzstein" monolith stands enthroned. The secret of the characters carved in stone has not been revealed to this day. Or has it?
