The former inner-German border ran here between Henneberg, Thuringia, and Eußenhausen, Bavaria. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a sculpture park with relics from that era was created here to commemorate the division of Germany. A beautiful place to pause and reflect!

In front of this "Cross of Peace," I would like to offer the viewer, as a small inspiration, the very first words that the newly elected Pope Leo XIV addressed to the faithful from the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica – even before he gave the traditional blessing "urbi et orbi" (to the city and the world): "Peace be with you all! Dear brothers and sisters, this is the first greeting of the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd... I too desire that this greeting of peace enter your hearts, reach your families, all people, wherever they are, all nations, the whole earth. Peace be with you! This is the peace of the Risen Christ, an unarmed and disarming peace, humble and persevering. It comes from God, the God who loves us all unconditionally."
