The "Hemmoorium" is the geological and prehistoric museum of the town of Hemmoor, operated by the local history and heritage association. It displays impressive fossils from the Warstad chalk pit (up to 65 million years old), including the famous "Hemmoor Balls" and presumably the largest flint in Northern Europe. More than 300 different finds and replicas document the prehistoric settlement of the region through finds and burial mounds. The museum is open from April to September on Sundays from approximately 2:00/2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., including guided tours for groups and children (also by appointment). Something for the eye

The former clay pit used for brick production in Hemmoor is now leased to a fishing club. Luckily, you can use the circular trail. Keep your dog on a leash, pick up any droppings, and don't leave any trash behind—all good. :-)

There's a lot of interesting information about the era of cement and brick production in Hemmoor and the opportunity for nature that the area now offers. Plus, a nice green area with plenty of benches, two lakes (you can even walk around the clay pit), open spaces, and small woods.
