You can spend a wonderful day here. Whether you want to drive around the sea or go hiking, swim, go to the island, stroll... there is actually something for everyone. But don't arrive too late, otherwise you have to park a little further away...Parking costs 5 euros for the whole day.

The state-approved resort of Steinhude on the south-eastern shore gave its name to the large inland sea and that is not the only reason why the people of Steinhude are proud of the traditions of their fishing and weaving village. In the half-timbered town center, fishing nets, traps, boats and peat barges tell of this story in a nostalgic way. The fisherman's and weaver's museum and a unique historic mangle for processing linen fabrics also provide vivid evidence of the life and work of people by the sea before tourism became the main source of income.
