The television tower on Jakobsberg is popularly known as "Langer Jakob". It is already the second telecommunications tower. The first tower went into operation in 1953 and was demolished in the early 1970s because it no longer met the latest technical standards and was replaced by the current one. Originally, a Bismarck tower had stood at the site since 1902. The television tower has a visitor platform. For a small fee, visitors can enjoy what is probably the widest view of the Weserbergland and the North German lowlands in all of Porta from a height of 23 meters between April and October. The Bismarck Association operates a toilet, a kiosk and the outdoor facilities as well as a Bismarck memorial room.
