🌉 The Moselle bridge in Bernkastel-Kues is far more than just a transport link – it is the vital artery that connects the two very different districts of Bernkastel (old town) and Kues (plateau & hospital).

Whether the view from the castle or from Bernkastel-Kues to the castle, both perspectives are worthwhile.

Great view across the Moselle to the castle. Landshut Castle is the ruins of a hilltop castle in Bernkastel-Kues in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district of Rhineland-Palatinate. Landshut Castle is located on the western slope of the Hunsrück above Bernkastel, a district of Bernkastel-Kues. It stands on the approximately 235 m above sea level[1] high castle hill, a northern spur of Mount Olympus (415 m above sea level).[1] The Moselle, flowing toward the castle from the southwest, turns northwest below the castle (approx. 107 m above sea level).[1] This allows travelers traveling upstream and downstream along the Moselle to see the castle on the horizon from afar. The historic market square in Wittlich is a small gem of art history. Opposite the Old Town Hall stands today's Hotel Well. The magnificent Renaissance building was formerly known as "Zum Wolf." Next to it is a simple 18th-century Baroque building, the former Neuerburg House. The Baroque building on the long side was built as a post office in 1753 by the Fier family. Main inspection of the Pleiner Viaduct on the Maare-Mosel Cycle Route Plein Viaduct, length 98 meters, height above valley 31 meters Unkenstein Tunnel, length 140 meters Grünewald Tunnel, length 124 meters The Pleiner Viaduct consists of a five-span arch bridge. The structure is located on the Hasborn - Wittlich section of the Maare-Mosel Cycle Route. The viaduct, first built in 1910, demolished in 1945, and rebuilt in 1953, is approximately 98 meters long, approximately 31 meters high, and 4.65 meters wide between the railings. It was built on site using reinforced concrete, and the piers, abutments, and side elevations were clad in sandstone. However, the structural concrete is exposed in the arch undersides. After the railway line was closed by Deutsche Bahn in 1984, the tracks were dismantled in 1989. Before the structure was reopened as part of the Maare-Mosel cycle path in 1998, it was completely renovated. Pleiner Tunnel - Hasborn–Wittlich Directly after the former Plein train station, approximately 5 km beyond Hasborn, the cycle path leads through the 585-meter-long Pleiner Tunnel. It then continues downhill through deciduous and mixed forests to Wittlich. From the rather rugged Volcanic Eifel, the cycle path descends into the Wittlich Valley. The route passes vineyards and leads into the town of Wittlich.
