It is always nice to walk along the Rhine and watch the ships or enjoy the weather.

It's beautiful there, with a stork's nest on the side of the road, although there is currently still flooding. Otherwise, the Rhine on one side, fields on the other and trees along the paths that provide plenty of shade.

The Rhine ferry Helene is the longest ferry in Germany. It connects Gernsheim in Hesse with Hamm on the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate. Currently, an adult ticket costs €2. It departs from Gernsheim on the hour and half hour, and from Hamm at quarter past and quarter to. Waiting times can be bridged in the localities on both sides. As of 06/24.
