Treuchtlingen City Palace is a Renaissance palace in Treuchtlingen in the Middle Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen. Historically, the palace is also known as the Lower Veste, in reference to the Upper Veste located further upstream. The building is registered as a historic monument in the Bavarian Register of Monuments under monument number D-5-77-173-23.[1] The address is Heinrich-Aurnhammer-Straße 3 and 5. The palace is the birthplace of Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim, a cavalry general during the Thirty Years' War. The quote from Friedrich von Schiller's drama *The Death of Wallenstein* is dedicated to him: "That's how I recognize my Pappenheimers." Today, the palace houses, among other things, the Treuchtlingen City Museum.

In Pappenheim, Komood leads up into the mountain behind the village. If you end up here on a bike tour with luggage, it quickly becomes clear: in the rain, without studded tires, with a normal bike, this path is dangerous.
