Here you may have plenty of time to enjoy the great view, as the railway barrier is closed for up to 15 minutes at a time.

The Lindau Lion (1856) is a monumental sculpture/stone figure on the left pier of the harbor. It represents the then new affiliation of the former free imperial city to the then and, from today's perspective, also former Kingdom of Bavaria (until 1918).

From here it is not far to the island a visit is definitely worth it

The picturesque little town on its peninsula jutting out into the lake is the birthplace of the writer 'Martin Walser'. Landmarks are the castle built in the 14th century and the onion church tower of St. George.

The entrance to the port, where u. where the Bodensee scheduled ships from Bregenz, Rorschach and Friedrichshafen dock, is bordered by the new lighthouse from 1856 on the west side and by the statue of the Bavarian lion on the east side. The 6 m high, armored lion sits, supported on its front paws, on a three-tier pedestal made of Nagelfluh and looks towards the Swiss shore. It was carved in six blocks from a block of Kelheim marble by Johann von Halbig before 1856 and weighs about 70 tons.[47] The former harbor pier was built in 1812 by the Mehrerau monastery using blocks of Rorschacher sandstone. It was completely demolished in 1986 due to the danger of collapsing and rebuilt almost in its old form from South Tyrolean sandstone. It allows you to walk around the lion statue. The six meter high lion, which is looking intently across the lake, is the work of the Munich professor Johann von Halbig. It is made of Kehlheim sandstone and weighs around 50 tons. The Roman numerals "MDCCCLVI" are written on the base of the lion - they provide information about the year the building was completed: 1856.
