It spans the Oste lowland in the area of a historic ford at the same location. The first permanent bridge connection at this location was built in 1984, the so-called "Heidjer Bridge". Due to the poor structural condition and the first bridge structure, the municipality of Heeslingen and the city of Zeven built a joint replacement construction in 2023.
