Approaching the ruins from Fleschützen, it was quite unsatisfying. Access to the inner castle is blocked, and the surrounding walls are overgrown. It's impossible to get a clear view. The ruins are apparently neglected and have been left to their natural state. The sign also suggests this. A shame.

Count Franz Anton von Waldburg-Zeil inherited the county of Trauchburg in 1772. Since then the family has carried the name "Waldburg-Zeil-Trauchburg". Neutrauchburg Castle has only been used privately by the princely house of Waldburg-Zeil-Trauchburg since the 19th century, partly as a residence for the hereditary family and partly as a widow's residence for the princesses. From 1848 to 1856, the castle served as a private boarding school for Prince Constantin von Waldburg-Zeil-Trauchburg. The grandmother of today's Prince Erich von Waldburg-Zeil, Countess Monika, lived in Neutrauchburg Castle until her death in 1953. In 2008, the castle was extensively restored, converted into a hotel with great attention to detail and opened as a hotel and restaurant in the summer.

Rimpach Castle is a castle in the hamlet of Rimpach, a district of Friesenhofen in the municipality of Leutkirch im Allgäu.  Rimpach Castle The palace ensemble, owned by the von Waldburg-Zeil family, consists of a former prince-bishop's hunting lodge with a mirrored hall as well as an inn and palace chapel. The St. Leonhard Chapel built in 1765 can be traced back to an originally Gothic chapel from the 14th century; frescoes have been preserved in the interior. All of the two-storey buildings with mansard roofs of the castle built by Johann Georg Specht from 1754 to 1757 are listed buildings. The client was the Prince Bishop of Chiemsee and canon of Salzburg and Basel, Count Franz Karl Eusebius von Waldburg-Friedberg and Trauchburg. The stucco ceiling in the Hall of Mirrors is by Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer and Johann Georg Dirr (1757).[1]
