Inside you can imagine that this beautiful building once consisted of four separate buildings. You can't see any of this from the outside.

The core of the Old Town Hall in Ingolstadt dates back to the 14th century and originally consisted of four buildings. Between 1882 and 1884, the four houses were redesigned and combined by Gabriel von Seidl in the neo-Renaissance style. The last structural changes were made in 1923. The New Town Hall was built in 1960, meaning that numerous administrative rooms were outsourced

In the summer of 2013, the old town hall was the scene of a hostage situation. One of the hostages was the third mayor Sepp Mißlbeck. After several hours, the SEK ended the hostage-taking. I was on vacation in Italy at the time. It was even reported there.

A great building - the entrance to the old town of Ingolstadt. The former brush factory built next to it completes the beautiful ensemble. The Kreuztor, built in 1385, is also the landmark of the city of Ingolstadt.

This is hardly noticeable from the outside, but anyone who goes inside will quickly notice that there are all sorts of paths that lead to the destination. Winding corridors and creaky stairs in various stairwells. A true historical gem that was extensively renovated in 1984. Although a new town hall was built in 1960, the Old Town Hall is still the seat of the mayor of the city of Ingolstadt, numerous administrative offices and the tourist information office. The town hall is best admired at dusk.
