If you want to travel to or from Schwäbisch Gmünd by train and bike, you can take the IRE, which runs from Aalen to Karlsruhe or from Karlsruhe to Aalen without changing trains. Stops are KA, PF, Mühlacker, Vaihingen, ST, Schondorf, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Aalen. We traveled from PF to Aalen and returned from Schwäbisch Gmünd. Despite the €9 ticket, there was enough space for bikes. It's best to board at the back or front, the train is relatively long.
