The well-preserved castle is an essential part of the historic old town, perched on a hill. And we felt the same way as @Scout Jens: the view from below of the castle and old town had a certain promise and was the most beautiful view.

Menzingen Castle is a Renaissance-era moated castle located in Kraichtal-Menzingen in the Karlsruhe district. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the castle was rebuilt by the Lords of Mentzingen in the 16th century and destroyed during World War II. The castle ruins are privately owned and not open to the public. An information board with a good view of the ruins is located at the rest area outside.

The castle is beautiful and you have a great view of the country from there. A detour by bike is also worthwhile because of the many historic buildings in the old town, which are well described on information boards.

Currently (April 2023) the keep cannot be climbed due to dilapidation.

The castle is beautiful and you have a great view of the country from there. But we found the view of the castle with the city wall from below even more beautiful. Kind of promising.
