To mark its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Elsterschloss-Gymnasium Support Association commissioned the creation and installation of an art installation on the grounds of the present-day Elsterschloss-Gymnasium. As part of the "Art at the Castle" project, a bronze casting model of Elsterschloss Elsterwerda was created. Very pretty town ensemble, unfortunately many streets in the old town are paved and not suitable for racing bikes.

Churches are always worth a visit. They give hikers a place to relax and rest.

Very nice castle with a great park and some ancient trees.

At this point, the Black Elster cycle path is not paved. It runs along a narrow embankment. Beautiful, but very narrow with oncoming traffic and pedestrians to be overtaken.

The Frauenkirche, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was the parish church of the new town. In 1539 the first evangelical pastor began his service. The elongated nave, which is extended by a wide west tower, was built between 1487 and 1525.
