The Bruchteiche near Bad Sooden-Allendorf are ideal for leisurely circular walks (approx. 2km). You can also include them in the longer P7 circuit (15km). Numerous benches invite you to linger and enjoy the banks of the pond.

Unfortunately, in many places it smells very strongly of foul gases or similar.

A beautiful spot. A tour is worthwhile

February 29th, 2024, sunshine, my third day in rehab and straight to the quarry ponds (just like my first rehab). An absolute highlight that you definitely have to visit if you are in the area. Five out of five stars from me! By the way, there is a complete path with many benches around both ponds :-)

Legend of the Frau Holle pond: The lake forms the entrance to Frau Holle's subterranean realm. At the bottom lies her castle of pure silver, surrounded by lush gardens full of flowers, fruit and vegetables. Every noon the beautiful young woman appears at her lake to take her bath in the middle of the pond. That's why this place is also called 'Bathroom of Frau Holle'. As the light earth mother and goddess of fertility, Mother Holle gave people rich harvests. She brought the rain that brought growth to the fields, and when she shook out their beds, the snow that covered everything. If they were angered, they brought misfortune and misery to the land.

Quiet place to relax.

Nice place for a lunch break, unfortunately no table far and wide.

Great starting point for many well-marked hiking trails and circular routes. Very beautiful swamp pond with a lot of life in it: fish, frogs, newts, water striders and much more. Particularly recommended when the day-trippers make their way back ... then it gets quiet (only the frogs cannot be overheard), the sun is above the pond ... sit on one of the benches and pause.
