The Isar-Werkkanal is a side canal of the Isar. It follows the Isar for a length of about 12 km, can absorb up to 70 m³/s and is mainly used to generate electrical energy.

The Ickinger weir, together with the Mühltal canal and the Mühltal power station about seven kilometers downstream, was built by Isarwerke AG as so-called Central III in the years 1920 to 1924. It serves both the diversion of the Mühltal canal and the flood control. The two weir bridges can be walked on and thus offer a popular option for crossing the Isar. The enclosed Isar footbridge is quite narrow due to the built-in regulation technology, but offers beautiful views of the building and river through the windows. There is a raft slide for rafters, and for fish there is a fish ladder on the left past the weir. Inline skates can be ridden from the south over the canal bridge to just before the overbuilt Isar bridge (then the paved path ends), so that you can enjoy beautiful views of the water.
