For over 430 years, Ahrensburg Castle has been one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Schleswig-Holstein. Very close to the lock, Henneberg Castle stands on a specially created 15-meter-high hill. It looks like a fairy tale with its battlements and two towers, in the middle of an enchanted garden with trees. It was built in 1887 by the landowners Albert and Bruno Henneberg - on a scale of 1:4 of a castle that the Count of Henneberg had built in Meiningen, Thuringia. The Hamburg branch of the Hennebergs wanted to commemorate their ancestors and create a monument for themselves. The mini-castle with its 43 square meter interior area is still a monument today: It has been a listed building since 1991. A Hamburg couple fell in love with the gem, bought it in 2013 and founded a non-profit foundation. Remains of the medieval count castle Arnesfelde. There is nothing left of the walls. But the layout of the old castle is understandable through the castle hill and ramparts.
