Hellifield nestles on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is surrounded by rolling hills, dry stone walls and agricultural land.

Malham Tarn is a super nice lake near the village of Malham in the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales. Though you can’t really see the lake on this ride past on Henside Road, the countryside views are simply outstanding, especially in the early summer with the spring flowers.

This is a very slightly easier climb than taking the famous Cove Road to the west, but is still consistently over 10% for nearly 2km. The scenery is spectacular, and by the time you reach the hairpins near the top you are into real remote and rewarding territory

The memorial is a life size bronze statue of a serviceman which is erected upon a octagonal sandstone column within a small paved area. There are five metal plaques attached to the column.
